HealthUnity™ Appliance for HealthVault enables clinical systems to easily integrate with HealthVault.

Features include HL7 support, patient consent management, audit log, approval workflow, automated publishing, PHR website and adapters to popular clinical applications, available hosted service.

The Problem

Hospitals are looking at ways in which to enable patients to access their health records and at the same time use standards-compliant interfaces for information exchange with various 3rd party entities.

Hospitals require a simplistic approach in which they can keep track of patient consent, provide audit logging, automated publishing, while at the same time provide connectivity to 3rd party PHR portals like Microsoft HealthVault.

A logical extension of their existing HIE would be to integrate the HealthUnity solution which provides all the above using an HL7 standards-compliant interface, which would provide for ease of extensibility and support.

The Solution

The HealthUnity™ HIE solution offers seamless connectivity to healthcare providers running disparate EMR systems. A key component of the HealthUnity solution is an EMR Lite product intended for providers that do not currently use an EMR. The EMR’s interact with a HealthUnity exchange using existing standard messages such as HL7. HealthUnity adapter framework performs necessary translation when transferring the data between systems.

The HealthUnity™ PHR Gateway product adds capability of managed publishing and accepting of healthcare information to patient record banks such as Microsoft HealthVault. The HealthUnity Appliance for HealthVault is a set of products and services that provides interoperability to Microsoft HealthVault. The solution enables each entity in the network to send and receive information with HealthVault in a controlled manner. This obviates the need for each provider to build their own connectors to HealthVault. The providers' existing systems can continue to operate with existing HL7 messages and the capability of connecting to HealthVault is plugged in at network level. Furthermore, the HealthUnity solution provides the ability to record patient consents for publishing data to HealthVault. Providers get to keep a copy of records that are published as well as audit trails. It also enables patient-guided linking of charts at different practices that belong to the same patient. All of these services can be provided in a local appliance model or a hosted model.
